The National Organization for Women Michigan Chapter was started in the mid 1970s by a small group of feminists. One of their first actions was the “storming” of the Detroit Athletic Club which had a back door entrance for women only. As Michigan NOW grew, Detroit members organized their own chapter. Last year, 2009, Detroit NOW merged with Downriver NOW to become Wayne County NOW.
